MacPHEE, Graham Donald
— 82, Upper Nine Mile River, passed away peacefully Monday, October 12, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with family by his side. Born in Gore, July 2, 1927, he was a son of the late William J. and Verna B. (Gowe) MacPhee. During his lifetime he worked at a variety of jobs and in later years owned and operated Withrow-MacMillan Funeral Home and Ambulance Service. After retiring, he became a ham radio operator with call sign VE1DMM. Graham's family played an important role in his life. He enjoyed having his house full of family and friends, especially if they stayed for a meal with him. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris (Sutherland); daughters, Dianne (Matt), Halifax; Ardith, Truro; Linda Ford (Francis), Freeport; Janice McMullen (Ernie), Wittenburg; Heather Geddes (Michael), Milford Station; Barbara Grant, Wittenburg; son, Donald (Debby), Upper Nine Mile River; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; sister, Vivian Hayes, Lantz; brothers, Dr. Albert, New Minas, Larry, Gore. He was predeceased by sisters, Olive, Janie; brothers, Arthur, Philip. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service on Thursday, October 15, at 3 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Ian MacDonald officiating. Private family burial in Sand Hill Cemetery, Upper Nine Mile River. Family flowers only.
