Annapolis Valley Health, serving a population of 85,000, consists of six health facilities including a Regional Hospital. Comprehensive medical care and specialist services are available in the District, including health promotion and educational programs.

The Annapolis Valley boasts a reasonable cost of living, safe and friendly environment with a great climate, myriad of recreational and cultural activities, beautiful shores, historic towns and villages, numerous golf courses, picturesque parks and nature trails. Dalhousie University, Acadia University and Nova Scotia Community Colleges are located nearby as well as excellent elementary, secondary and private schools. French immersion is offered in many of these schools. The Annapolis Valley is known as the soccer capital of Atlantic Canada and recently home to a new indoor soccer facility. The District is located between Windsor and Digby; only a short distance from the vibrant provincial capital city of Halifax.
